Why would my rear window sunshade folds over when in closed position?

My rear window shade will go up and down, but the mesh folds over onto the parcel shelf upon closing. The rods disappear below the surface. I recently got my car out of the shop and have just started to notice this. I don’t believe that it did this when I reclaimed the vehicle. In the past, I kept the shade in the up position. What could be causing this?

How long has your 1997 Mercedes-Benz E320 had this problem?
