What is your question?
Was told there were metal shavings in the 'pan'...My regular independent Mercedes mechanic told me I need a new transmission at a cost of $4,800. I went into shock. I took it to the transmission shop who replaced my shifter last year and he only need some 'kit' for about $250 plus labor involving some dismantling of transmission for about $350 in labor. I've got my fingers crossed.

Do you know what kit they are going to replace? I'm curious. Good Luck, I hope that works!
I have the same thing going on with my mercedes s430 its a shift module celenoid. Mercedes quoted me costing me no more then $1000.00 it's not transmission don't take your mercedes to a local mechanic no matter how good they are. They wont have the diagnostic equipment to fix it. Mercedes don't have shift lock systems on their shifters. My understanding is this is a common problem. I hope this gives you some info to go about your problem. I couldn't find any information regarding this issue online either. Good Luck.
