What is your question?
Someone told me I have to get a timing chain before I hit 98,000 miles because if it breaks it will cost me more. Is this something I must do or was I misinformed?

Your CLK 320 has a timing chain and only regular oil changes are needed unless the chain is noisy or affects performance.
Mercedes do not use a timing belt and usually the timing chain will last longer than you will own the car. I've got a customer with a 1996 E300 with 300,000 miles on the original chain.
