You can see the car, go to KBB or Edmans and enter info to see what it's worth... Keep in mind prior service records! Also consider how expensive it is to own a MB!!! Parts and labor about double!.. Its your call...of course!
My opinion only. Have the vehicle inspected by a Good Thorough Mercedes Technician who is well versed with transmissions, suspension, engine, smog etc. and of course has a Star Diagnostics Program. Bring the ever important service records. Ask the owner if the engine burns oil and at what rate (he'll know). Does it pass smog? I've seen engines at 400K run real strong, not burn oil and will easily pass smog. I've see engines with under 100K that rattle, burn oil and couldn't pass a smog in any county. Inspection and history are key to me.
Get a Pre Purchase Inspection and go from there. I will tell you that $300/month to maintain this vehicle is right on the money. Be prepared to spent money driving it.
