Turn signal switch will not cancel after completing a turn

What is your question?

I recently changed my daughter's combination switch and now it will not cancel automatically after completing a turn. I found a small brass ring on the floor before installing the new combination switch. I could not see where it could have came from. Need technical help. Thanks

Most likely needs and new turn signal switch

This was a brand new switch. Only been in the car for one day when my daughter noticed the turn signal would not cancel the blinker after completing the turn. What is the reasoning behind your suggestion of purchasing another switch?
