Has any one had issues with the Balance Shaft on their Mercedes? Filing a complaint with the NHTSA may help get this part recalled if you have.

Just looked to see if Mercedes posted a Service Bulletin on the balance shaft or any issues with it but nothing posted in my information.
i have this issue, let me know more about it.
Any updates on this issue. i went to the dealer today with 89K miles on my 2006 C280. They told me $6300!!!!!
Yes! 2007 Mercedes C230 Balance shaft needs replacement. $5000!!!!!!
mercedes benz quoted 6 to 7 thousand because they have to replace the oil pump the y also h.00ave to do 2 oil changes after done they have to drive it for 10 miles then you have to come back in 1 week and have another oil change then in 30 days another that is to get all the metal particle out from the the broken and worn gear as the have to replace all the chains the sprocket crank gear and much more it take a full 2 days labor that is 3,000.00 just labor they parts are almost 3,000.00 to 4,000.00
I have a 2006 c230 96,000 miles. I am having problems with the check engine light related to this issue. I cannot affort the cost at the dealership. What is the status on the recall possibly?
just find another low milage guaranteed engine like around 45,000 miles they run about 1,800.00 and it runs about 1,000.00 to 1,200.00 to put in
yes you do not want to ever hear these words p0016p0017 error codes camshaft out of time if you go to mercedes benz $6,000.00 to $7,000.00 cheaper to just find another good engine for about 1,800 and 1,000.00 to have someone to put it in that is about 2,900 a lot better than 6 to 7 thousand to repair
I understand a service bulletin was posted on 2007. But they are wiggling out of repairs any way they can!
mercedes benz never admitted they were at fault but they did offer a compromise it and the best was they offered a specific amount towards the repair but most cost were over the amount to replace the balance shaft as it is from 5-7 k depending how much damage it did depending how many miles are on the car if under 50,000 miles and out of warranty they did offer out of warranty for owners as a goodwill you can call mercedes benz directly and ask them as a god will gesture if they can help and give them your vin number i tried they said no there is one way you can replace the engine with a guaranteed engine for less than the repair cost it cost about$1,500-1,800 to buy another engine and about $1,200.00 to put in about $2,500.00 versus 5-7 thousand or just get rid of the car and buy something else stay away from the 2004-2007 mercedes v6 they all have a v6 balance shaft issue you may not be aware of why tjs happens it is a design error on the engine the mad a v6 just like a v8 doing so made they engine to vibrate excessively because the engine is not balanced so the had to put a balance shaft to reduce the vibration in 2008 they got ride of balance of some of the balance shafts in some of the engines and went to a single chain driven engine and rebalance the crank to compensate for the vibration to a moderate success
