Customer Concern: MIL on, DTC P0410 - secondary air injection low flow detected. Tests/Procedures: 1. Inspect all hoses on the air filter, supercharger, intercooler, Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) etc., for loose clamps or leaks. 2. Verify the supercharger belt is tight and in good condition. 3. Check fuse K40F4 (15A) in the relay module in the underhood module box. 4. Inspect vacuum hose connections to the air injection switchover valve Y32 on the front of the engine above the water pump. The output hose connects to the diverter valve which controls the secondary air injection flow to the engine. Disconnect the hose on the air injection diverter valve on the intake manifold from the supercharger outlet elbow. Use a hand vacuum pump to apply vacuum to the valve at the hose connection on Y32. With the engine running, exhaust noise should be present. The valve must hold vacuum. Reconnect hoses. 5. Clear DTC's using a fully functional Mercedes-Benz compatible scan tool, and connect a Digital Multimeter (DMM) to Y32 on the Grey/Brown wire by back probing the connector, ground the common terminal. Start the engine when cold. The supercharger clutch should engage and voltage at Y32 should drop to 1v or less. Vacuum should be applied to the diverter valve. 6. Recirculation air flap should be fully closed during the secondary air injection phase, also controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Potential Causes: Carbon Buildup Diverter Valve Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Secondary Air Injection (SAI) Check Valve Secondary Air Injection (SAI) Hoses Secondary Air Injection Switchover Valve Supercharger Tech Tips: The powertrain control module uses the recirculation air flap to bypass excess boost during periods of deceleration to prevent excess wear on supercharger clutch. There is no position sensor on the flap. Diagnostic Codes: P0410
I just heard two fellows at the office at Repairpal talking about a similar Mercedes problem a few months ago I have forwarded this question to them in hopes one of them remembers the answer to this problem.
