AC activation reduces car power

AC compressor engagement does put an additional load on the engine. This will cause the engine to lose power, slightly, and also affect gas mileage. This is normal, as long as it isn't excessive power and fuel mileage loss. Make sure there are no check engine lights on. Some vehicles will go into limp mode if there is an engine issue and the a/c is activated. This helps prevent excessive damage to the engine.
