What is your question?
Need to know if it's feasible for me to check and change injectors as needed and, more importantly, can I change the fuel distributor myself, since that is mostly what mechanics have told me needed replacement. Is there a place on the net with instructions? (Have built my own choppers and worked on my own cars at a younger age).

I like Alldata for detailed repair instructions. Replace the fuel filter as well, it is water and dirt that damages injectors and the fuel metering head. Autozone have some popular workshop manuals for free on line once you register (for free) on their website http://bit.ly/autozone_repair_info or there is a company that independent auto repair shops "buy" their information from that offer a very reasonable service to do it yourselvers. You can get a one week subscription or year subscription very cheap. The information is year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... great quality information same as the professionals have ,much better than generic workshop manuals from parts stores, much cheaper than the factory manual try http://bit.ly/Mitchell1_Online_Repair_Manuals and get an online repair manual subscription.
there are lots of videos online on how to rebuilt a fuel distributor. check out restoreyourmercedes.com and check on youtube. you can buy a complete rebuild kit for about 110 buck on ebay
