The front left wheel is becoming very hot when driving above 60mph.

Have you done any brake work recently? If not, with high miles and high speed driving you can cook the calipers which will hang on the rotor. Do not continue to drive car until fixed. Also check your wheel bearings(noise is usually a first sign here)
