What is your question?
Before I did this it would start and then die as the temperature came up to normal. The key is a type that folds up like a pocket knife. And the main body it folds up in is missing. Not sure if it was there before the repairs. Bought the van off of Facebook and I didn't notice if the key was missing the main body. It has 100,000 miles on it and appears to have been well maintained
What makes this problem better or worse?
No it will not start now
How long has your 2005 Mazda MPV had this problem?
Hasn't ran since before the repairs

Your concern description and repairs performed leave a whole lot of wide open questions that make it impossible to help from a Q&A forum. You'll need hands on inspection with proper diagnostic equipment and shop manuals for reference to first see if you have an anti-theft problem with the key. Then, once this is eliminated, you'll need to check engine compression, engine timing, ignition spark, fuel delivery and air intake. My guess is that more than one problem is occurring here, especially now that the engine has been partially disassembled and reassembled without any sense of whether there is a failure present that needed repaired or not in the first place.
