So my a/c starts out working fine. But on hot days, it will blow hot air & the temp. gauage has started going to the hot part. But if I drive a resonable speed with few stops it doesn't run hot. What could the issue be?

I wonder if your cooling fan is working under the hood. It could be malfunctioning, causing the engine temperature to rise too high, and then the AC will shut down. Alternatively, an engine thermostat that is sticking will allow the engine temperature to get too high. These are areas of attention I would focus on. Of course, a diagnosis will reveal the exact cause of your issues. Good luck.
