The Fuel filter, oil filter, spark plugs, cables all new.

I shoot start fluid in the air intake, filter etc... removed, runs like a champ. sounds great. It turns over runs for a sec and shuts off unless I shoot start fluid in the intake, it will keep running if I stand there. I'm thinking fuel pump. All the fuses are good, I have 100,762 miles on it. Bought from my mom, my dad has stage 7 dementia-Alzheimer's. The info file he had, has no fuel pump ever put in. Is there anything I may be missing??? thx so much for taking the time to help.
