Hooked the 626 up to a computer reader, and got a goose-egg on read-out having any major problems. Car idles a little low, then stalls on initial acceleration when driving in stop-and-go city traffic. It's fine on the highway, no problem with any higher speeds, but once I get into city traffic, it's ok in some intersections and then it feels like the engine is struggling (no difference in sound, but the engine block moves a bit), and then when I put my foot on the accelerator it stalls. I've been dealing with it by putting the car in neutral & keeping the revs higher(between 1,000 - 2,000 revs) while I'm stopped, but easing off the accelerator, switching gear back to Drive (It's an Automatic) & putting on the accelerator shoves it forward with a jerk. Feels like the engine block itself is shifting. A Cam Shaft warning light comes on, but didn't think it had to do with the stalling. Recently replaced the battery, checked the fluids, had the fuel filter cleaned out by the mechanics who hooked up their computer reader & got nothing telling. Help?

Howdy! A code reader is not going to be able to diagnose this vehicle. For your Mazda, it is application specific meaning you will need to have a scan tool and possibly other test equipment to diagnose the issue. There are many items that can cause this symptom. What is a camshaft warning lamp? Do you mean check engine lamp? If so that may be related to your symptom. Also, if a repair shop cleaned out a fuel filter that can be an issue. A fuel filter should never be cleaned because they can come apart causing more issues. They are supposed to be replaced. Basically the vehicle needs to be properly diagnosed to find out where the issue lies. It can be a computer issue, mass air flow sensor, wiring harness one of many sensors or something completely different. Hopefully that helps.
I had the same problem, and changed the fuel filter but didn't help, so i change spark plugs and it get better but wasn't fixed, at last i change spark plug wires and that make a huge improvement, that was all, after changing wires the engine starts, idles and run just as new. also the gas mileage improved.
