What is your question?
It's not a regular problem, but it is a problem because it happens without warning, at any moment. The power steering wheel has maximum amount of fluid, but the power steering will randomly become suddenly so stiff and hard to turn in order to turn right or left. It works just enough to get it out of the away but can definitely still cause an accident. I was reading about the 2007-2009 Mazda 5 recall because of the power steering, I called Mazda and they want me to bring it in for service, but I'm definitely having the same problem in my 2006 Mazda 5, as the ones from 2007-2009 models. They are trying to turn me down since there's no official recall on my specific make/model/year; but its the exact same problem. Has anyone else had this problem and how can I get it fixed super cheaply? Will the Mazda dealership be able to help me?
How long has your 2006 Mazda 5 had this problem?
Since I bought the car

The Mazda dealer can definitely fix it but if you VIN doesn't apply in the recall there isn't much they can do. I suggest having an independent shop take a look. Use this link to find a good shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
Hello, having any help from Mazda may be questionable, but the concern should be able to be diagnosed if the problem occurs frequently enough. This vehicle does utilize a steering control module and other related components to create a variable assist power steering that will increase or decrease needed power assist depending on speed and conditions. A malfunction here could cause intermittent difficulty turning the steering wheel. Alteranatively, a power steering pump concern or steering gear issue could also cause the problem. Therefore, testing is needed. Once you know what is wrong, you can approach Mazda for help, but I would highly doubt any success there.
