Is it plugged in? Programmed to car? Presume you mean 'ignition lock cylinder' on steering column? Battery dead? (if you say 'no' tell me how you PROVED it , like with a voltmeter ). ALSO--- What was the reason for cylinder replacement?
Yes, I mean the ignition lock cylinder. Yes it is plugged in, I've checked all connections 3 times now. I have not put a volt meter on the battery but it was fine before I started working on it and I disconnected it before I started. Also, with the headlights on, they do not dim while attempting to start the car. Fuel pump engaged but starter does not. This is a manual transmission and yes I'm depressing the clutch.
Replacing it because the original cylinder locked with key engaged. Can not remove original key, it won't turn either direction and can not be removed. Could they have given me the wrong cylinder, like for the wrong year or for an automatic transmission? This is a 2005 Mazda 3 and looking at pics on line, it looks like an ignition cylinder for a 2008 or newer.
How does one program it to the car?
