When turning the ignition, the starter only clicks once and doesn't start at all

What is your question?

Put a new starter on, started just fine after 2 hours of not running, would not start again. The starter only clicked once but I can jump it off then it starts.

What makes this problem better or worse?

After I get it started and I turn it off, I go back 30 minutes later the starter only clicks once
