Trans Filter

You may not be able to tell which filer you need until you have the pan off. The question is always, "How do you know if your pan is deep or shallow if you only have ONE pan to look at." There is nothing to compare it to. We have had the same problem with some of the GM 4L60E transmissions and it is always a "deep or shallow" guessing game. Your best bet my be to remove the pan and filter and take the filer with you to the parts store. Matching up the new and old filters should get you the correct one. The deep pan filter will be longer that the shallow pan filter.
