My liftgate doesnot work right

It starts to open about a foot then closes or if you manuelly open it and try to close it goes about a foot then back up

Sounds like it's seeing a restriction somewhere along the way at the point of concern. Testing and inspection of the lift mechanisms and any obstructions noted should be performed, hands on.
