controls on the steering column on the right side is not working

What is your question?

The right side of the buttons that control radio, volume, selection on the steering wheel is not working however the controls on the left side that controls cruise is working. What could be the problem? 2011 Lincoln MKS

What makes this problem better or worse?

the right side illumination on the steering wheel buttons are off, the left side is on and working

Hello, it is likely a failure of the switches themselves. They derive contact and power from the "clockspring" - or air bag sliding contact behind the air bag in the steering wheel. Typically, though, the switches are the failed component from what i've seen. As always, testing should be performed first. And, this is not a "do it yourself" repair with air bag deactivation required.
