dead battery and key wont unlock door

Hello, if your battery is dead, it is understandable that the power locks will not operate. As far as the key not turning the lock cylinders -- I'd be shocked if all the cylinders did not turn. Perhaps the key is worn? Do you have an alternative key to try? The only other thing I can think to do is to break into the vehicle, allowing you to open the hood and repair the battery concern, which will provide power to the power door lock system again. That said, if the key doesn't work in any of the lock cylinders -- how does it work in the ignition cylinder? Something seems askew here.
