What is your question?
I just replaced the water pump in my 1998 Lincoln Continental and put 50/50 mix water antifreeze in and the car warning light still comes on saying check engine temp and the needle is all the way in the red
What makes this problem better or worse?
When I'm driving it gets worse
How long has your 1998 Lincoln Continental had this problem?
A couple days

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If your 1998 Lincoln Continental is still overheating after replacing the water pump, it could be one of a few things. First, double-check that the coolant is fully topped off and that there are no air pockets trapped in the cooling system—sometimes, air can get caught in the lines, causing poor circulation and overheating. You might need to "burp" the system to get rid of any trapped air. Another possibility is a **thermostat issue**—if the thermostat is stuck closed, the coolant can’t circulate properly, causing the engine to overheat. **Radiator problems**, like a clogged or leaking radiator, could also be to blame. Since you said the problem gets worse when driving, it could also be a sign of a failing **cooling fan** or **fan relay** not kicking in when needed. I’d suggest getting the system pressure tested to rule out any leaks or internal issues.
