The engine seems to start fine and run fine from a cold start.Once the engine has been shut off and engine sits for approx. 10 minutes, it is very hard to start and/or keep running. I have replaced plugs wires and fuel filter.I am on the second tank of premeum gas, this car has been sitting for 6 mos. Yes the engine light is on.

Start with the Engine Light Codes, that is the surest way to really find the problem. When a car has been sitting for a long time, it can be tricky to bring it back to life, especially if you did not use a fuel stabilizer when the car was sitting.
Echo Dandd and add that thermal breakdown may be the cause in three areas. Coil, ignition module (usually on the fan housing for those equiped with such) and fuel drain from the injectors (although very uncommon only seen it one time).
