Hello Guys, I have a Lexus RX 400h, it has about 141,000 miles on it. I get about 23.6 mpg on it. It keeps improving the longer I drive. I am however experiencing very bad mileage when I do the math. So a full tank takes me about 270 miles. For a 17.2 gallon car, it actually means I am getting about 15 mpg, which is awful and strange at the same time. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

Hello, fuel economy is a difficult thing to assess and determine. All you can really do is make sure that everything is working as designed. Engine performance is good - no check engine warning lights, a check of on-board computer diagnostic systems shows all things working as they should. Make sure spark plugs are changed, air filters are changed as prescribed by your maintenance manual. Additionally, your hybrid battery may not be doing what it should - causing the engine, instead of electric motor, to carry more of the burden. Have your hybrid battery state of health checked.
