How do I find my ring that fell behind my steering wheel?

I was driving yesterday and my ring fell off in between the steering wheel and the plastic. I took off the plastic piece above the break and gas pedal but I can’t seem to find it. I think it fell inside the consul between the front seats (but forward parallel with the gas and break pedal. I already searched over the rest of the car and can’t find it. How do I take off the paneling safely? Or where else could it have fallen? It’s a special ring and I know it’s somewhere in there so I would like to find it.
