My steering system vibrates amd makes noise between 77 amd 85 miles per hour with a slight bounce

First thought my tires needs alignment. I took to a.lexus repair shop amd they stated a strut had given away in my steering column and there is no repair except repacking the steering column at a cost of $3800.
What makes this problem better or worse?
