What is your question?
Recently purchased a 2009 Lexus RX350 from a private owner. Retired couple, the Lexus is immaculate. Perfect condition. A slight creak/ when turning sharply to right or left. (Right turn from a stop sign for instance). Brought it to my usual neighborhood sole proprietor Brake/Tire repair shop. Imagine my shock, when they informed me that my new used 2009 Lexus RX350 needed a rack and pinion asap, to the tune of $1200 can this really be an urgent issue? At 153k miles? I called the previous owners, she was speechless. This vehicle was well cared for, garaged, no rust, so clean it looks brand new like a 2021. She was shocked like I am. Additionally, my brake/tire repair shop recommended brakes and other stuff totaling $2400 is this realistic? I just bought it. The original owners were meticulous and this RX350 was babied, garaged, and is absolutely incredibly clean. spotless, VERY well maintained, not leaking anything.
What makes this problem better or worse?
steering right or left

Get a second opinion. Use this link to find some shops near you that can help with your concern: www.repairpal.com/repair-shops A rack and pinion steering gear could be recommended for a number of reasons -- for example, evidence of significant leakage from the seals. Or, if you noticed some kind of binding, that could be evidence of a rack concern. However, at 153,000 miles, sometimes things like this are a "watch", not a "replace" when inspected. I'd absolutely get a second opinion, as it seems like there may or may not be real issues that warrant immediate attention. Obviously, as the vehicle is new to you, you never know. And it's possible the previous owners didn't know either. But another opinion will be quite helpful.
