static noise followed by large bang under car.

What is your question?

Experienced a situation while driving on the highway, 70 mph where there was a noise that sounded like static on the radio. Increasingly became louder and then there was a large bang under the front/middle of the car. Steering immediately went to the left and had to bring car back to middle of road. Noise disappeared and everything seems to be okay. Any thoughts? Thanks
