What is your question?
My 04 Lexus RX330 shifts to what feels like 3rd gear. When I'm going 50 mph or higher the car sounds like the rpms are really high but the rpm gage says it's not. The car sounds like it wants to explode because of the consistant high rev sound. I feel like it's not shifting to 4th gear but again, the rpms sound high even though the gage says otherwise. Could this be a real problem or can this be gage fraud from someone tampering with it? Other than that, the car runs well. I have had the alternator, the starter, and the battery replaced. New tires, new brakes and rotors on the front, all within the last 2 months. Rpms sound high and can only feel the car shift up to maybe 3rd gear. Please help. I dont want my car to blow up.
What makes this problem better or worse?
When the car is not moving.
How long has your 2004 Lexus RX330 had this problem?
Almost a year, and have been told it's just my type of car :-(

Hello, I'm not thinking there's "gauge fraud". I'm not even sure how or why that would be done. As far as the concern, there's a contradiction in terms when you say that the gauge reads that the engine speed isn't high and you don't think the vehicle has shifted out of third gear. It's something you'll have to have a technician near you have a look at. It's possible something is making excessive noise -- like a wheel bearing or something. This could be simulating a concern. Perhaps tires are making harmonic noise? What is the engine RPM when then symptom occurs? www.repairpal.com/repair-shops
