Why does my car go on high idle when it starts?

What is your question?

When I start the car, it goes on high idle initially. It does breaks down to normal, but after driving about 2 blocks, it returns to high idle and will remain there until the engine gets cold again.

What makes this problem better or worse?

It's worse when the engine warms up.

Try cleaning the IAC Valve(Idle Air Control Valve),if needed soak it in carb cleaner overnight to loosen up carbon build up(keeping the little electric motor away from cleaner),let it dry completely before re-installing it.NO need to go to the dealer and pay them $600.00 or more to replace it! The Valve NEW is less than $200.00 if needed!
