My Lexus RX 300 stopped abruptly when in motion while gear was still engaged to drive without any sign. The gear engages in both Drive and Reverse but the car cannot move and I had momentry noise in the engine. What can I do?

I used to hear noise in the engine but after a while it stops when start the engine. But when the gear is engaged, the vehicle refused to move.
