Shifter is not locking slips into neutral easily if touched.

What is your question?

The shifter is not locking into place. If you have your hand on the shifter while driving or driveway with your foot on the brake the shifter will slip easily into neutral but not reverse. What is this? hoping it is not related to transmision.
