When I attempt to start it doesn't. Sometimes a orange triangle with an explanation mark is on the dashboard and it says can't shift to p. I tried jumping it off and I replaced starter and it didn't work

Well, the first clue of a concern here is that you found melted wiring. This means a hands-on thorough evaluation is so much needed.
