ball joint replaced and it still makes a knocking noise when backing up

What is your question?

Just had the front ball joint replaced and when I back up or turn, there is a loud knocking noise. It should not be doing this. Do you think maybe the ball joint was defective that was put in it?

What makes this problem better or worse?
