What is your question?
Had to replace an alternator and now there is a coolant leak that runs down the backside of the alternator. Is this a Head Gasket or could it be from the water bypass or water pump?
How long has your 2006 Lexus GX470 had this problem?
after alternator replacement

Hey, my name is Dusty, and I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team. I'm here to help! Unless you've had trouble recently with your GX overheating or performing poorly, I suspect this is just the water pump leaking. The coolant leaves behind a residue that gets baked on with the heat from the engine. The timing belt will need to be removed to replace the water pump, so if you haven't had that replaced recently (Toyota recommends replacement at 90k intervals), now is a good time. It's also a good idea to have the remainder of the timing belt components (as well as the serpentine belt and associated components) checked and replaced if they're found to be suspect.
