Need to change ingnition switch so that we get a different key the car was recovered but with out the key And that was the only key we had but what about the programming of the key is see that a lot of places say you need the master key to do this but we have no key at all and dealer wants like 200 just to program a key that's crazy how hard is it to remove the switch and there has to be a way to program the key for a DIY person. the car is a 2000 lexus GS 400 Platinum Edition limited. (I think I put 300 above but it's a 400) I find just the key on the internet but there not cut keys not expensive but the cutting is were they get you and programing the key but that's only for a key for a piece of mind I rather do the ingnition switch with new key so who every has my old key it won't work thank a bunch Ruben Yglesias

I'm truly sorry -- there IS no way to do this as a "DIY person". This is an important anti-theft feature of your vehicle, and if it could be done by a "DIY person" then any thief could also do it -- thus making it a very ineffective anti-theft provision... You'll have to bite the bullet and pay the dealer, or perhaps find a local locksmith that has proper tooling and diagnostic equipment to do it also. Chances are you'll pay the money either way.
