the engine will run perfectly until i shift into drive and then shuts off completely,why is it doing this.

Hard to say for sure, but something transmission related internally could be causing this, also engine performance concerns could be causing the idle speed to lower too much when putting into drive. Hands on diagnostic testing is required.
