My car occasionally slips between gears. This only seems to happen once in a while, sometimes when the car is cold. Is this common for my car as the dealer says it is "normal".

A software update is available to enhance shift quality and smoothness. No part replacement is necessary, only a software download to the TCM. It should be covered under the 72,000miles/70month powertrain warranty. Ask your dealer to perform the update.
