Check out this link http://www.fueleconomy.gov/Feg/bymake/Lexus1997.shtml If your gas mileage is less a scan tool can be used to measure fuel trim figures to see if they are abnormal.

I'm having the same issue. Some tanks i get great gas mileage then with similar driving the next tank i will get 20 mpg with highway driving.
