What is your question?
Oil change in may at dealer then we changed it early Sept. On the sixteenth of September the engine seized up. Car shield will not cover it because the mechanic said there was no oil and we need a new engine.!! No oil has been leaking, we were adding oil frequently, approximately every three weeks.I drive perhaps six hundred miles a month around town. Thank you for your time.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Over time it became worse.
How long has your 2017 Kia Sportage had this problem?
I would say, eight months approximately.

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your vehicle. It sounds like your Sportage may have been experiencing oil consumption issues. Even though there are no visible leaks, the engine could be burning oil internally due to worn piston rings, worn valve seals, or severe carbon buildup on the valves. If oil is being consumed rapidly, it can lead to a lack of lubrication, causing severe engine damage, which would explain why your engine seized. Oil consumption issues can begin and worsen in a short period. If you need more advice, have any other questions about your vehicle, or would like to get connected to a RepairPal Certified shop near you, we have you covered.
