My Kia back hatch won’t open from the outside latch but will from the inside.

I heard a thud in the back of my 2015 Sportage 2 separate times while driving. Not knowing what it was I excused it but after the second time I realized my back hatch won’t open from the outside, it will from the little lever I push on the hatch from the inside though. Im at a loss but could it be an actuator?

Hello, hard to explain the noise you heard and the failure you have unless there was some kind of physical damage that has occurred?
Basically, hands on testing is needed. Does it have power at the actuator? If so, and the actuator does not work, then it will need to be replaced. If there is no power, testing will need to continue in the circuit.
