Is the noise instantaneous or does it continue? If it's a one time noise after start up, it could be the compressor for the air conditioning system engaging for the first time. If it's something more continual -- or in any case -- I would advise you to seek a local shop to show them the noise and get a first hand opinion.

The noise is a knocking noise which begins upon start up whether the AC or heater is on and lasts for anywhere from 20-30 seconds...
