Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. If your steering is binding and tight, but adding fluid seems to make it better – – it would seem to me that you may have a leak in your system which is causing the system to go too low in fluid to operate the power steering properly. Have your power steering system inspected for leaks - you should be able to see a fairly obvious source of leakage without too much effort, I would think.
