Do i have to replace the whole fuel pump assembly or can i just replace the fuel filter 06 kia spectra

starts to sputter like I'm running out of gas. Giving it gas makes worse. Tries to stall out while I'm driving. Have to push the clutch in and rev it up to get it to pick back up speed.

What makes this problem better or worse?

Car tries to quit on me while running. Giving gas makes it worse. I Have to push the clutch in and rev it up to get it to pick up again
