the evap finally reset after 672 miles. I am at loss here! I did all of the drives cycles and I only need that one to reset so I can finally get it smogged.

It shouldn't take that long to set the cat monitor. There is something wrong with the system. Also you can have one unset monitor in you car. So if the only monitor no set is the cat you can smog it.
If the catalyst monitor has not set at 1200 miles, most likely there is another issue causing the monitor not to run. As long as the check engine/service engine light is not on, and all other monitors are set, you should be smog ready.
