What is your question?
I think I have to replace the fuel pump on my 2010 Kia Soul, manual transmission, 1.6L. I think this because sometimes my car jerks when accelerating, most of the time in 3rd gear. Online research points me toward replacing the fuel filter. In this car the fuel filter is inside the fuel pump, which is located in the fuel tank accessible from under the rear passenger seats. I found 1 video online showing how to change the filter, but it looks like a complicated process. I figure if I'm going to be in there anyway, and my vehicle has 160,000 and some change on it, I may as well change the fuel pump. Do replacement fuel pumps come with the filter already in it? Or is that a separate thing I have to do anyway?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Seems to not jerk if I get the RPMs up high before shifting, rather than shifting early.
How long has your 2010 Kia Soul had this problem?
A few weeks

Hello, "online research" can give you statistics and opinion, but the only facts you can get is by performing essential testing. You'll need to test for fuel pressure at the engine - if there is low or wavering pressure -- then sure -- you may have a fuel pump problem. The fuel filter is not typically a "serviceable" part because you have to essentially replace the pump. I would strongly recommend doing the needed testing which is far less invasive than replacing a fuel pump -- which is likely not needed!
