What is your question?
I have a 2020 Sorento, with the 3.3L V6 Lambda II engine, and was informed that due to the unreliable (see: cheap) material that they're made out of, particularly the oil pan, that the likelihood of a leak occurring, without me even being aware of it, is high . . . which I unfortunately discovered when my oil plug worked itself loose, causing a slow leak that presented absolutely ZERO indications outside of the splash cover, until it fell out entirely, which ultimately caused my engine to fail. But apparently, since Kia hasn't issued any sort of recall for them, they refused to repair/replace my engine, even though they know they're having problems with them; and even better, my Fidelity Vehicle Warranty refused coverage because they said they "don't cover damage caused by insufficient oil," and that the damage was "indicative of long-term damage with low/no oil."

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! It sounds like you’ve had a tough time with your Sorento's engine. Like many automakers, Kia may be aware of certain issues with its engines but might not always issue recalls unless there’s a widespread safety concern. Regarding your engine's oil pan and the resulting leak, Kia might not be obligated to cover repairs under warranty if there was no prior recall or service bulletin. As for your Fidelity Vehicle Warranty, their coverage exclusions are pretty standard; they often don’t cover issues stemming from oil-related damage. It’s a frustrating situation, but sometimes, contacting Kia of America's customer service line and telling them about your frustration may help get some assistance in handling this frustrating issue, If you need any further advice or if you'd like any help finding a trusted RepairPal shop in your area, please feel free to call us at 877-913-1554!
