What is your question?
Valve cover has hole (cam lobe adjuster has broken) car is drivable, what is minimum repairs needed? Dealership typed paper, not an actual quote, of anywhere between 3700 to 8500. The minimum being pulling the whole engine to replace timing chain, cam lobe adjuster, intake manifold, etc. And the max being using a short block and transferring aux components to the replacement block. Car still runs, just has a ticking noise, it did lose some oil, I added oil back before driving to dealership (1 quart) runs smoothly except for ticking noise, no grinding or engine hesitation. I don't understand why the whole engine would need pulled just to replace timing chain. I understand some of the top end would need pulled off like the intake, coil packs etc., but the whole engine? Doesn't make sense. They tried to talk me out of repairing it, they would give me "4000 minimum off on one of their red tag vehicles and the owner said he just wanted 1000 bucks on it when I asked who would buy it.
