My air conditioner doesn't seem to change to upper vents

My 2013 Kia Sorento fan blower blows at all speeds but doesn't seem to direct the air to the dash vents when selected, it seems to be stuck on a split between floor and dash vents(second dial selection on the control)... like a damper is not moving correctly. Is there anything I can check before taking it in for service?
