Do i remove the black rubber piece on the axle sode of my wheel hub assembly before install
What is your question?
I bought new front wheel hub assemblies and both came with a rubber cap-like ring on the axle side of the assembly. Does this need to be removed and the assembly and axle go metal on metal?? I put one assembly on and drove a day or so and when I took it off the ring was shredded. Am I doing something wrong?

Hi, it would seem to me that the cap like item you are speaking of was for shipping and packaging purposes for the new part, and not be used when replacing the component. However, I can't see it - and can't be 100% sure. Seek local guidance at a shop near you for hands on assessment.
